Do push notifications work on mobile and tablet devices without an app?
Yes, push notifications work with mobile devices including smartphones, tablets as well as Windows convertibles. Notifications are delivered even when your customers/users are not on your website. Then there's the question of what happens when your smartphone is switched off, even then notifications will be delivered once you power it on and come online.
Currently Android supports web push notifications, and PushAlert supports all major browsers on Android. In future, Apple iPhones and iPads are also expected to get support for browser push notifications.
