Do push notifications work even when browser is closed?
This is browser and platform dependent. While some desktop browsers need to be open to receive notifications, browsers on mobile can receive notifications even when they are closed.
If the user is offline when the notification is sent, depending on the set notification expiry (default is 24 hours from when notification is sent), the notification is delivered when the browser is opened next.
